Why Rowan Atkinson will never take on the role of Mister Bean again

Steph Deschamps / January 5, 2021

Mister Bean is the role that made him known all over the world but that he will never take again. This is what Briton Rowan Atkinson says in the Sun newspaper. He explained the reasons why he no longer wants to play the endearing and childish jester.

It's exhausting, he described. Rowan Atkinson, who is 65, prefers to voice the character in his cartoon version.

It's easier for me to interpret the character vocally than visually. I don't like playing with him very much. The burden of responsibility is not pleasant. I find it stressful and exhausting, and I look forward to the end of filming, the actor explained.

Mr Bean first appeared on UK ITV in 1990, before seeing his character appear in films and a cartoon series.
