U.S. presidential election 2024 - Donald Trump becomes the 47th president of the United States, according to several U.S. media outlets

Republican Donald Trump becomes the 47th president of the United States, with 276 electors in his favor, the Associated Press, CNN and NBC report Wednesday, confirming information initially published by conservative Fox News.

The 78-year-old Republican thus becomes the oldest elected President of the United States, and the first since Grover Cleveland in the late 19th century to serve two non-consecutive terms as President of the United States.

Winning the 10 electoral votes of the key state of Wisconsin, Donald Trump reaches 276 electoral votes, more than the majority of 270 electoral votes, out of the 538 electoral votes needed to become President of the United States.

The Republican candidate was also declared the winner in Georgia, North Carolina and especially Pennsylvania, the most crucial of the seven decisive states, against Democratic vice-president Kamala Harris, according to several US media outlets.

Results from several swing states, including Michigan, Nevada, Arizona and Alaska, are still awaited, but can no longer change the outcome of the election.
