Joe Biden visits Brussels while Jürgen Conings is still at large: Brussels will be on the warpath!

 Steph Deschamps / June 10, 2021

First European tour for Joe Biden, the 46th President of the United States, with a stop in Belgium on June 14 and 15 but without his wife, who will return to the White House after a visit to Queen Elizabeth II at Windsor Castle, at the same time as her husband will be heading to Brussels. You don't change a (mega) winning team: the visit of an American president to Belgium is always accompanied by an impressive ballet of security services and law enforcement. This was already the case for the visit of Barack Obama in 2014 and that of his successor, Donald Trump, in 2017.

Nothing is, of course, left to chance not even Jürgen Conings, the Belgian soldier on the run with more than disturbing motives and actively sought for three weeks. There, if you can find a stronger word than mutism no answer to the question, but as an observer tells us, I would not understand if the people in charge of elaborating the protection did not take this element into consideration in the evaluation of the situation.

Guaranteed reconfinement

And this will not really make the residents of the European quarter, the American embassy, the royal palace or the NATO headquarters laugh, who, at some point on June 13, 14 or 15, will be subjected to a very military discipline.
