Former U.S. President Donald Trump was acquitted Saturday by the U.S. Senate on charges of inciting insurgency following violence on Capitol Hill on January 6. Fifty-seven senators voted in favor of a guilty verdict and 43 against. The two-thirds majority required for conviction was therefore not achieved.
