Electronic cigarettes have been permanently banned, this Tuesday, May 31, 2022, in Mexico, where it will be, also, prohibited to smoke tobacco in the historic center of the capital Mexico.

The marketing and circulation of e-cigarettes have been banned by decree of the President of the Republic, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, signed Tuesday, World No Tobacco Day, said the executive.

It is a lie to say that the new products, the vapoteuses, are an alternative to cigarettes, said the president in front of the press, considering that they were also bad for health.

Mexico has already banned in October the import and export of electronic cigarettes and their refills of liquid to vapoter. Traders continued, however, to sell their stock, acknowledged the Deputy Minister of Health Hugo Lopez-Gatell.

The new ban covers the circulation and marketing of these new products, he added.
