Maddie McCann's parents strongly contradicted allegations by the German prosecutor that they had received a letter informing them of the death of their daughter.
On Monday evening, the German prosecutor Hans Christian Wolters announced that the German authorities had informed the parents of Maddie McCann by letter of the death of their daughter. "We have concrete evidence that our suspect killed Madeleine and that means she is dead," said Hans Christian Wolters, in charge of the investigation into Christian Brueckner. "The parents learned that the German police had evidence that she was dead, but we did not give them details." Words which had been reported by the German and British media.
We obviously know that it will be difficult for the family. But we cannot say more for the moment, "added the prosecutor. "It is a murder, not a disappearance. We have been very clear on this since the start of our investigation and we now have the evidence. ”
This Tuesday, Kate and Gerry McCann, the parents of Maddie, wanted to react to these allegations. The couple say they have never received such a letter from the German prosecutor. "The widely circulated news that we have received a letter from the German authorities saying there is evidence that Madeleine is dead is FALSE," the parents wrote on their official website. "This causes unnecessary anxiety for our friends and family," adds the couple.
The Portuguese newspaper Sol reported on Tuesday that investigators will investigate the water wells in the villa rented by Christian Brueckner in Praia da Luz.
