Fans of the movie Mom, I missed the plane again! Certainly remember the appearance of Donald Trump in the lobby of the Plaza Hotel in New York. But what they may not know is how the billionaire got into the cast of the cult movie sequel Mommy, I Missed the Plane !.

As a reminder, in this scene which dates from 1992, Kevin McCallister, played by Macaulay Culkin, is alone and disoriented in the lobby of the Plaza Hotel in New York. He then crosses paths with Donald Trump who shows him the way.

The reason director Chris Columbus agreed to the businessman being in his film was because he didn't really have a choice at the start, as he told Insider.

“Usually, when you want to shoot in real settings in New York, you pay a certain amount and you are allowed to film in the location in question (…) We contacted the Plaza Hotel, which then belonged to Trump, because we wanted to shoot a scene in the entrance hall. We couldn't reconstruct the Plaza in the studio, ”the director explained.

Trump then blackmailed the film crew into playing a small scene. "Trump told us OK. We paid the requested amount, but he also added: 'The only way for you to use the Plaza is if I'm in the movie' (…) So we accepted that 'he makes a cameo in the movie and, when we first screened him, the strangest thing happened: people clapped when Trump appeared onscreen. So I told my editor : 'Leave it in the movie. This is a defining moment for the audience.' But yes, he forcibly imposed his presence in the film, "said the director.
