Russian parliamentary elections: Vladimir Putin's party claims a two-thirds majority of the deputy seats

U.S. authorities had launched a massive search for the 22-year-old woman, who went missing on Sept. 11 while traveling with her partner. Her parents last contacted her when the couple was in the Grand Teton National Park area in Wyoming, the family said.

The Kremlin's party claimed on Monday to have won more than two-thirds of the deputies' seats in Russia's parliamentary elections, thus retaining the super-majority needed to amend the constitution without the support of other parties.

The ruling party received 46.11 per cent of the vote, according to results from half of the polling stations released overnight.

A senior United Russia official, Andrei Turchak, estimated that his party had won at least 315 of the 450 mandates at stake, hailing it as a clear and clean victory, despite multiple accusations of fraud by the anti-Kremlin opposition, which was excluded from the election in the wake of months of repression.
