United States: Joe Biden signs legislation to limit gun violence

The bill, supported by members of both the Democratic and Republican parties, passed Congress on Friday to applause.
While this legislation does not include everything I want, it does include measures that I have long called for that will save lives. Joe Biden signed the legislation to implement gun control in the United States on Saturday, June 25. This legislation, the most important on the subject in nearly 30 years.
This legislation introduces new gun restrictions and spends billions of dollars on mental health and school safety. Among other things, the legislation will strengthen criminal and psychological background checks for gun buyers between the ages of 18 and 21 and establish better controls on illegal gun sales, while also funding mental health programs.
But the measures proposed remain far from what the American president wanted, such as the ban on assault rifles. After a series of deadly shootings, including the massacre in an elementary school in Uvalde (Texas) and that of Buffalo (New York State), the text is nevertheless a first in decades. Today, we have done something, concluded the American president. I know there is still a lot of work to do and I will never give up.
