A motorist crashed into several people on Friday afternoon in a Manhattan neighborhood where a Black Lives Matter activist protest was taking place, police and local media reported, without specifying whether it was an accident or a voluntary act.
Several people were injured by the vehicle and were transported to different hospitals in the metropolis, New York police told AFP. The driver of the vehicle was arrested on the spot, according to the same source.
The injuries do not appear to be life-threatening for the victims, the police spokesman said.
The facts occurred around 4 p.m. at a crossroads in the heart of Manhattan, and triggered the intervention of various emergency services including firefighters and paramedics, according to images broadcast by media on the spot.
