At least four people were killed Wednesday in a shooting at a hospital building in Tulsa, Oklahoma (southern United States), local police said, indicating that the suspect is also dead.
We now have five dead, including the shooter in a shooting at the site of St Francis Hospital, Tulsa police announced on Twitter.
Authorities in Oklahoma's second-largest city responded at 4:56 p.m. and headed to the second floor of a building where shots were ringing out, Deputy Police Chief Eric Dalgleish said at a news conference.
The shooter was armed with a rifle and a pistol and appears to have committed suicide at the scene, the same source said.
The suspect, who has not yet been identified by authorities, is a black male between 35 and 40 years old, according to Dalgleish.
U.S. President Joe Biden has been briefed on the shooting, the White House said, saying it is monitoring the situation closely and offering local authorities any assistance they may need.
The shooting comes days after a shooter massacred a Uvalde elementary school and a racially motivated killing that left 10 people dead in the black community in Buffalo, upstate New York.
