New shooting in the United States: at least 4 people lost their lives, including a child

Four people, including a child, were killed Wednesday night when a man opened fire in an office building in the city of Orange, south of Los Angeles, police said.

The shooter, whose motives remain unknown at this stage, was himself shot during the intervention of law enforcement and transported to the hospital

A fifth victim, injured, was also hospitalized.

Police have not released any details about the victims of the tragedy.

The shooting was reported around 5:30 p.m. local time on the upper floor of a small office building.

According to the Los Angeles Times, police officers who responded to the scene were fired upon and returned fire.

This shooting comes on the heels of two recent killings that have plunged the United States into mourning and reignited the debate over the proliferation of firearms in the country.

On March 22, a gunman killed ten people at a supermarket in Boulder, Colorado, less than a week after a man shot eight people at an Asian massage parlor in Atlanta, Georgia.
