Demonstrations took place across the United States on Wednesday after the inauguration of President Joe Biden.

In Seattle, several buildings were damaged by demonstrators as their protest, peaceful at first, turned violent after dark. Several people were arrested, according to police.

In Portland, too, a crowd of about 100 people gathered in front of the city's Revolution Hall. They began to march toward the Democratic Party offices, breaking store windows as they passed. Police confronted the protesters. Eight people were arrested. Small firearms were confiscated.
