Absolute horror: three children abandoned by their parents had been living with the skeleton of their brother for a year

Three children were discovered abandoned for months by their parents Sunday in Houston, United States, in an apartment where was also the skeleton of a fourth child, announced Monday the local sheriff.
The police added to have found Sunday evening the mother of the children and her companion. At this stage of the investigation, the police consider that the parents did not live in the apartment for several months, tweeted the sheriff of Harris County, which includes Houston.
It was the oldest of the three children, a 15-year-old, who notified police that his 9-year-old brother had been dead for a year and that his body was in the room next to his, Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said.
The situation is horrible, tragic for these three children who were living in pretty deplorable conditions, the sheriff added at a press conference.
The eldest child was doing his best to take care of the others, his two younger brothers, aged 7 and 10, he said.
But the two youngest appeared to be malnourished and showed signs of physical injury. All three children were taken to hospital for examination and treatment.
The investigation, entrusted to the criminal police and the unit in charge of child abuse, is still ongoing, Gonzalez said.
