We may soon have to address Elon Musk as sire : the whimsical Tesla boss was very officially proclaimed Technoking" (king of tech) by his company on Monday.
Its CFO Zach Kirkhorn, meanwhile, was awarded the title of Master of Coin, presumably in reference to the electric vehicle maker's recent purchase of $1.5 billion of the virtual currency bitcoin.
The company did not specify whether these titles involved additional duties.
The decision was announced in an administrative document sent to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and, laconically, is contained in two lines: Effective March 15, 2021, the titles of Elon Musk and Zach Kirkhorn have been changed to Technoking of Tesla and Master of Coin, respectively. Elon and Zach will retain their respective positions as CEO and CFO.
Accustomed to controversy, Mr. Musk has regularly clashed in the past with the SEC, which notably accused him of misleading investors when he had mentioned in a tweet in 2018 a possible delisting of Tesla when he did not have the financial strength for such an operation.
The authority then forced the businessman, whose fortune is currently estimated at $179 billion by Bloomberg, to give up his position as chairman of the board and pay a $20 million fine.
The entrepreneur also interfered Monday in the new fashion of NFT, these virtual objects with sales in vogue that allow to associate to a digital work a certificate of authenticity in theory non-pirable thanks to the technology of the blockchain, popularized thanks to the cryptomonies as the bitcoin.
Mr. Musk announced on his Twitter account to put on sale a piece of techno music with the theme of NFT (Non-Fungible Token) as NFT.
According to the American press, his girlfriend, the Canadian singer Grimes, recently auctioned off NFT packages combining an audiovisual creation with unreleased music for a total of 6 million dollars
