Americans now have the option of paying for a Tesla in bitcoins, the car company's boss, Elon Musk, made known via Twitter

Tesla had already announced earlier this year that it would accept this payment unit. The electric vehicle assembly company has already invested $1.5 billion in the virtual currency.

Elon Musk is clarifying today that the bitcoins the group receives for the sale of a vehicle will be retained and not necessarily exchanged for traditional currency

The value of bitcoin has increased significantly in recent months. Its current value is eight times higher than it was a year ago, according to data from CoinMarketCap.com. More and more professional investors are investing in bitcoin.
