Wedding ceremony turns into tragedy: 13 women and a 1-year-old baby die after a slab covering a well collapses

A wedding ceremony turned tragic in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. According to NBC News, 13 women and a 1-year-old baby died during the celebration. The victims were killed after a metal slab covering an abandoned well collapsed.
The guests were singing and dancing at the time of the tragedy. In addition to the fourteen deaths, ten other people were injured and rushed to hospital.
A rescuer who went to the scene said the well was more than 15 metres deep. The Indian Prime Minister described the incident as heartbreaking: l'express my deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives. I wish a speedy recovery to the injured. The local administration will help in any way possible, said Narendra Modi.
