Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called Saturday for international assistance to rebuild Ukraine, given the massive destruction suffered by the country after four months of war.

In his evening address, he mentioned 2,610 towns and villages under Russian occupation. But since the beginning of the war on February 24, the Ukrainian army has managed to liberate 1,027, he said.

Hundreds were completely destroyed by the Russian army, and must be completely rebuilt, he added, while the issue of reconstruction of the country will be at the heart of the Lugano Conference (Switzerland) on Ukraine, Monday and Tuesday.

It is not only necessary to rebuild everything that the occupiers destroyed, but also to lay new foundations for our life, for a safe, modern Ukraine (...), he said, aware of the colossal investments and reforms needed.

The Ukrainian president also recalled that the war was far from over. The brutality is increasing in some places, he stressed.
