War in Ukraine: up to 60,000 killed in the Russian ranks, between 175,000 and 200,000 people, including wounded

Since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine nearly a year ago, between 40,000 and 60,000 soldiers or mercenaries have been killed in the ranks of the Russian army, according to the British Ministry of Defense.

Including the wounded, the number of Russian victims is between 175,000 and 200,000.

The number of Russian casualties has increased dramatically since the partial mobilization of Russian reservists, decreed last September by Vladimir Putin. Since then, there have been many more inexperienced soldiers on the battlefield. London believes that one of the reasons for the high number of casualties is the lack of medical care.

The British Ministry of Defense issues daily updates on the progress of the war in Ukraine based on information provided by the intelligence services. Moscow accuses London of conducting a disinformation campaign, while the British ministry does not give an estimate of the number of casualties in the Ukrainian ranks. On their side, Russia and Ukraine do not give an official assessment of their casualties.
