Ukrainian authorities have reported up to 60 deaths after a Russian air strike on a school in the eastern region of Luhansk.
So far, two bodies have been found after the airstrike on the Bilogorivka school, the region's governor Serhiy Haidai announced on his Telegram channel on Sunday. The 60 people still under the rubble of the building are probably all dead, he added.
According to him, the air strike occurred already on Saturday afternoon. In the school building, 90 people had sought refuge from the Russian attacks. The bombing caused a fire in the school and the building collapsed.
Emergency services were able to rescue 30 people, seven of whom were injured, the governor said.
Luhansk and Donetsk together form the Donbass region, where Russia has refocused its attacks since the failures in its advance in Kiev and other parts of Ukraine.
Pro-Russian separatists have been fighting Ukrainian government forces in the region since 2014.
