Following the G7 meeting, the French president also assured that economic sanctions will be maintained as long as necessary.
The day after the Russian strike on a shopping mall in central Ukraine, President Emmanuel Macron said at the end of the G7 summit that Vladimir Putin's Russia cannot and must not win the war launched last February. At the same time, he said that the economic sanctions decided by the West will be maintained as long as necessary. Russia can not and should not win and therefore our support for Ukraine and our sanctions against Russia will continue as long as necessary and with the necessary intensity during the coming weeks and months, he said at a press conference in Germany.
French President Emmanuel Macron said, moreover, not to take about Russia the qualification of state financing terrorism. We do not need any qualification whatsoever to carry these sanctions against Moscow, replied, at the end of the G7 summit, the French president to a question about Russia, state financing terrorism. Volodymyr Zelensky had earlier Tuesday asked that Russia be designated as a state sponsor of terrorism.
