The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, displayed the unequivocal solidarity of the United States to Ukraine, during a surprise visit Sunday in Kiev where she met with President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The United States is a leader in providing strong support to Ukraine in the fight against Russian aggression, tweeted the Ukrainian president to accompany a video in which he is seen, flanked by armed guards, greeting Mrs. Pelosi and a Congressional delegation in front of the presidency in Kiev and then in a meeting with the US delegation.

Our delegation went to Kiev to send an unequivocal and resounding message to the world: the United States stands with Ukraine, according to a statement issued by the U.S. delegation at the end of their visit, which will then travel to Poland.

Additional U.S. support is on the way, say the U.S. lawmakers, who say they will turn President Biden's strong funding request into a legislative package.

President Zelensky welcomed the very important signals given by the United States and President Joe Biden, including the Lend-Lease program for Ukraine, like the one set up by the United States during the Second World War, to provide friendly countries with war material without intervening directly in the conflict.

This visit comes a week after the trip to Kiev of the head of U.S. diplomacy Antony Blinken and the U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin.
