War in Ukraine: dozens killed in the bombing of a military site in Mykolayev

At least six Russian rockets hit barracks in which nearly 200 soldiers were sleeping on Friday.
Dozens of people were killed in a strike Friday against a military barracks in southern Ukraine, in Mykolayev, witnesses told Agence France-Presse (AFP) on Saturday, as rescue operations continue.
No less than 200 soldiers were sleeping in the barracks, according to Maxime, a 22-year-old soldier interviewed on the spot. At least 50 bodies were extracted, but we don't know how many are left under the rubble, the young soldier continued. Yevgeny, another soldier on the spot, estimates that the strikes could have killed 100 people.
The site in the north of this city was completely devastated after being hit by six rockets on Friday morning. No information on the death toll has been released by the Ukrainian authorities.
Mykolaïv and its region are the scene of violent fighting and Russian bombing. The city is strategic because it is the last lock before the great port city of Odessa.
