At least three people were killed and six wounded in shelling in the vicinity of Kharkiv in Ukraine, local officials reported Wednesday, saying Russia was responsible for the civilian casualties.

Two of the six injured are in serious condition, said the head of the regional army, Oleg Sinegubov. The Russian army deployed artillery and mortars. The Ukrainian army managed to inflict losses on the Russian side, he said. However, this information can not be verified by independent sources.

In addition, several explosions are reported by Ukraine in the city of Kherson, held by the Russians.

In the eastern region and the town of Soumy, on the other hand, local authorities report more than 50 mortar attacks. It is not yet known if there are any casualties. Attacks are also reported in the city of Mykolayev in southern Ukraine.
