War in Ukraine: A direct confrontation between NATO and Russia is the third world war, warns Joe Biden

U.S. President Joe Biden reaffirms that under no circumstances will the United States intervene directly and militarily against the Russians in Ukraine.

In a series of tweets, the U.S. president stressed his country's continued support for Ukraine. The American people are united. The world is united. We stand with the Ukrainian people, he said. Biden also noted that the U.S. Congress on Thursday released nearly $14 billion in additional aid for Ukraine.

But there can be no question of direct military intervention by the NATO alliance in the Eastern European country, Biden also reaffirmed. I want to be clear: We will defend every inch of NATO territory with the full force of a united and strengthened NATO. But we will not wage war on Russia in Ukraine. A direct confrontation between NATO and Russia is World War III. We must try to avoid that.
