Ukraine won Saturday night in Italy the Eurovision Song Contest, ahead of the United Kingdom and Spain, thanks to the vote of viewers who voted for the group representing the country invaded in late February by Russian troops.

The Kalush Orchestra, whose song Stefania mixes hip-hop and traditional music, received 631 points. Favourites of the competition, the Ukrainians are ahead of the British Sam Ryder and his song Space Man (466 points) and the Spanish Chanel with Slo Mo (459 points). Our courage impresses the world, our music conquers Europe, reacted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Facebook.

At the same time, Kharkiv, the second Ukrainian city, is still resisting the Russian invader in the east of the country. Its defense has forced the opposing troops to retreat and this Saturday, the city has completed a day spared from bombing. On the spot, public transport is preparing to start moving again. 400 kilometers east of Kiev, Kharkiv, the second largest Ukrainian city, has been under attack for weeks from Russia, which borders it.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky congratulated Finland on its readiness to apply for NATO membership. In a post on social networks, Zelensky said he spoke with President Sauli Niinisto and discussed the European integration of Ukraine, reports rtv21.tv.

For his part, Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov said his country was entering a new and long phase of the war. To win it, we must plan resources carefully, avoid mistakes and deploy our forces in such a way that the enemy will eventually crack, he added. He added that the steps that will ensure the increase of the defense potential of Ukraine have been launched. This concerns both the acquisition and the production of means of defense. With a clear objective: to meet the needs of the Ukrainian army, but also those of the million people who will face the enemy.
