Tsunami alert after a major earthquake in northeast Japan!

A magnitude 7.2 earthquake struck northeastern Japan on Saturday, threatening to cause waves of about one meter. Authorities have issued a tsunami warning.

 

A first wave of the tsunami has already broken on the shore of the Miyagi prefecture, according to the Japanese channel NHK.

 

No casualties or damage have been reported at this time. The earthquake also shook Tokyo

 

The epicenter of the earthquake that shook the region at 6:09 p.m. was located off Miyagi at a depth of 60 kilometers under the Pacific Ocean, said the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA).
