Two of the dead tourists are of Colombian nationality, the other two were not yet formally identified, said the regional government of Cusco (south).
Besides the four Frenchmen, appear among the wounded two Greeks, two Canadians, two Israelis, two Argentinians, two Peruvians, a Dutchman and a person not yet identified.
The accident occurred in the night of Sunday to Monday to a hundred kilometers of the city of Cusco, the ancient capital inca main point of departure of the tour operators organizing the visits of Machu Pichu.
The coach fell into a ravine of more than 100 meters, indicated the Minister of Work and Tourism Roberto Sanchez, according to which there was fog where the accident occurred.
Some of the injured had to be transferred to Lima in a plane chartered by the Air Force, he added.
The accidents of the road are frequent in Peru, because notably of the state of the road network, the excessive speed or the lack of signalization.
Three weeks ago, 16 people died when their bus crashed into a ravine in the province of Junin (center).
About 5.000 tourists on average visit daily the Machu Pichu, built in the 15th century by the inca emperor Pachacutec, registered in the World Heritage of the Unesco and among the list of the wonders of the world.
