Shooting outside a restaurant in London, a 9-year-old girl in critical condition

A nine-year-old girl was in critical condition on Thursday after being shot, along with three men, outside a London restaurant on Wednesday evening, Scotland Yard said.

The three men, aged between 26 and 42, who were seated outside the establishment in Hackney, in the east of the British capital, are in stable condition but have suffered injuries with potentially serious consequences.

The little girl was inside the restaurant where she was dining with her family.

Scotland Yard official James Conway said the little girl, "an innocent victim of indiscriminate gun crime", is "fighting for her life" at this very moment.

Someone knows who is responsible for these shots", he declared, and the police launched an appeal for witnesses. So far, they have found a stolen motorcycle, which investigators believe was used.

This type of event involving a firearm is relatively rare in the British capital, where stabbings, often between teenagers, are more common.
