Russia decides to close its borders to European trucks

Eva Deschamps / October 2, 2022

Trucks registered in Europe will no longer be able to enter Russia as of October 10, Moscow announced Saturday, echoing the closure of European borders to Russian trucks decided several months ago.

The ban covers both trucks engaged in commercial transport between EU countries and Russia, as well as those in transit or the entry of European trucks from third countries.

The exclusion also applies to British, Norwegian and Ukrainian trucks. According to the document published Saturday, the ban will be applicable until December 31, 2022.

The EU had banned Russian trucks on its territory already on April 8 because of the invasion of Ukraine by the Kremlin army.
