Nato summit: Donald Trump arrives, away from the cameras, and evades journalists' questions

Steph Deschamps / June 27, 2025

Unlike the other leaders present, Trump was able to evade questions from journalists on his arrival. Dutch broadcaster NOS reports that the organization set up a covered access especially for the American delegation. Trump therefore made no statement, but he had published a message on his Truth Social network just before his arrival at the summit. "En route to a very important NATO meeting. The United States will be very well represented," he wrote. In his message, he also mentioned having an excellent breakfast with the Dutch royal couple, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima. “The King and Queen are beautiful and spectacular people,” he reads. Trump had spent the night at Huis ten Bosch Palace, the king's residence in The Hague, at the latter's invitation.
