For the first time since operations began, Russia acknowledged that the invasion of Ukraine was not going entirely as it had planned. I would say that everything is not going as fast as we wanted, Russian National Guard chief Viktor Zolotov explained Sunday night. Until now, Russian President Vladimir Putin has always maintained that the invasion was going exactly according to plan.
Zolotov, who is also a member of the Russian Security Council, blasted the Nazis who hide in schools, kindergartens and homes behind peaceful citizens, including women and children. But he expressed confidence that Russia would ultimately prevail. The Russian National Guard, an internal government military force, is also taking part in the invasion of Ukraine.
