U.S. President Joe Biden and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson agreed in a telephone conversation Tuesday to attend a virtual G7 summit on Afghanistan next week, the White House and Downing Street said in two statements.

The two men welcomed the cooperation of the United States and the United Kingdom in the evacuation operations in Afghanistan, according to the British Prime Minister's office.

They also discussed the need to continue close cooperation between allies and democratic partners about the country, now in the hands of the Taliban, said the U.S. Presidency.
