Since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, 510,000 Ukrainians have already returned from abroad, according to the Ukrainian border police. Last week alone, 110,000 people returned to the country, according to border police spokesman Andrij Demchenko, who told the German tabloid Welt. Eight out of ten returnees are men, mainly from Poland.

According to Polish border guards, 352,000 Ukrainians have already returned to their country, authorities said Monday. Since February 24, when Russia invaded Ukraine, 3.9 million of the estimated 44 million Ukrainians have already fled their country, according to figures from the UN refugee agency (UNHCR). 2.3 million of them have fled to neighbouring Poland.
