Extremely severe floods cause chaos in China: at least 16 dead, subway flooded

Floods "extremely serious by the admission of President Xi Jinping: China is facing torrential rains that have killed at least 16 people, mostly in the metro of a large city in central China.
National television CCTV showed streets of the city submerged in a huge stream of muddy water, while residents with water up to their knees pushed their vehicles through flooded arteries.
The Zhengzhou Meteorological Department reported the heaviest one-day rainfall since records began 60 years ago.
China is facing extremely serious flooding, President Xi Jinping said Wednesday, after news of 16 deaths in the metro of the large city of Zhengzhou, in central China.
Emergency services have declared a level 2 flood alert across the country as heavy rainfall continues in Henan province, of which Zhengzhou is the capital.
