Coronavirus: CNN fires three employees who were not vaccinated

Sylvie Claire / August 6, 2021

At the beginning of the year, CNN had indeed informed its employees that vaccination was mandatory to return to work. Other large American companies, such as Microsoft and Alphabet, parent company of Google, or Facebook, also impose vaccination as a condition for returning to work.

In the last few weeks, we were made aware of three non-vaccinated employees who were coming into the office. The contracts of these three employees have been terminated, said the president of the media Jeff Zucker in an internal memo and that the New York Times among others consulted. Let me be clear - we have a zero-tolerance policy on this, Zucker added, though he admits it was not an easy decision.

More U.S. companies are making vaccination mandatory as the more contagious Delta variant of Covid-19 spreads across the Atlantic, such as supermarket giant Walmart.
