At least eight children were killed and twelve were injured in the attack on Kumba school in the English-speaking region of southwest Cameroon on Saturday, the UN said in a new report.

At least eight children were killed by gunfire and machete attacks. Twelve others were injured and taken to local hospitals, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Cameroon said in a statement.

A local official had previously announced that four children were killed and several others seriously injured in the attack.
