British Black Lives Matter activist Sasha Johnson, 27, in critical condition after being shot in the head

British Black Lives Matter activist Sasha Johnson, 27, is in critical condition in hospital after being shot in the head in Peckham, southeast London, early Sunday morning, her political party Taking the Initiative said on Facebook.

This attack took place following numerous death threats because of his activism, the party argued.

However, London police said Monday morning that there was no indication that the young woman had been the subject of a targeted attack or received credible threats prior to the incident. Police still reported that a party was taking place near where the shooting occurred in south London. An appeal for witnesses has been launched to identify the shooter.

Sacha Johnson, a mother of three, is a leading figure in the Black Lives Matter movement in England. A member of TTIP, described as Britain's first black-led political party, she has organized several protests against systemic racism in the country.
