The billionaire Richard Branson took off Sunday on board a Virgin Galactic ship which must take him, as well as three other passengers and two pilots, to spend a few minutes in space, noted a journalist of the AFP on the spot.

A carrier plane took off around 08H40local time (14H40 GMT) from the Spaceport America base, in the American state of New Mexico. It must gain altitude during approximately 50 minutes before releasing the spacecraft hung under it, which will then light its own engine until reaching space.
