At 70, a woman gives birth to her first child in India

A 70-year-old woman has given birth to her first child in India. Jivunben Rabari and her husband Maldhari conceived their son through in vitro fertilization.

 

Jivunben Rabari, 70, and her husband Maldhari, 74, have given birth to their first child. Originally from a village called Mora in Gujurat, India, the couple conceived their son through in vitro fertilization (IVF).

 

Jivunben had no identification to prove his age but claimed to be 70 years old. Doctors were skeptical but now hail it as one of the rarest cases they have seen. Indeed, she is closing in on the record for the oldest woman to have given birth to a child. Another Indian woman, Erramatti Mangayamma, is said to be the oldest after having twin girls in September 2019 at age 74.
