North Korea launched an unidentified projectile into the Sea of Japan, South Korea's Yonhap news agency reported Monday night. The launch comes barely a week after the launch of a hypersonic missile, strongly condemned by the international scene.
North Korea's official KCNA agency said Thursday that the missile, fired on Wednesday, January 5, carried a hypersonic warhead that accurately hit a target 700 km away .
Pyongyang says it needs its arsenal to defend itself against a possible American invasion.
