Jose and Viridiana lose their lives in a tragic hot air balloon accident, their 13 year old daughter survives by jumping from the basket

Steph Deschamps / April 3, 2023

The tragedy occurred Saturday in the very tourist area of Teotihuacan, Mexico.
Jose, 50 years old, his wife Viridiana, 39 years old, and their daughter Regina were on board a hot air balloon that exploded and caught fire.
The 13-year-old girl jumped from the basket to survive. She was transported to the hospital. She survived but suffered a broken arm and second degree burns.
As for the parents, they were burned alive in the balloon.
José and his daughter Regina had offered this balloon ride to Viridiana for her birthday.
The balloon crashed in a communal field of Teotihuacan.
An investigation was opened to understand the circumstances of the accident. A failure of the fuel storage system would be at the origin of this drama.
