At least 14 people were injured in the U.S. city of Chicago during Halloween festivities when shots were fired at a group of people from a car.

Among the victims were three children aged 3, 11 and 13, according to local police cited Tuesday by several U.S. media.

The victims have been treated in various hospitals in the region. For some, the prognosis is vital.

It was about 9 p.m. local time Monday when a series of shots were fired from a car as several people paraded down the street in costume for the Halloween party, police told the Chicago Sun Times newspaper.

One person was also run over. The shots reportedly lasted only a few seconds.
