Contestation in Canada: Health passport to be abandoned in Ontario as of March 1

Sylvie Claire / February 14, 2022

The Premier of Ontario announced Monday that the vaccine passport would be lifted in his province, the epicenter of the anti-sanitary measures protest since late January.

We're going to drop the passports on March 1, Prime Minister Doug Ford said at a news conference, explaining that the vast majority of people had been vaccinated and that the Omicron peak had passed. The lifting of the health measures is being called for by protesters who have been blockading the federal capital Ottawa, located in Ontario, for more than two weeks.
