It would be a revolution for the whole world: this company wants to test an oral vaccine against the coronavirus

According to the Jerusalem Post newspaper, Israel is poised to become the first country to test an oral coronavirus vaccine. The company Oravax Medical is currently awaiting approval from the Israeli Ministry of Health. A response from the Ministry of Health is expected in the next few weeks.

According to Nadav Kidron, head of parent company Oramed Pharmaceuticals, this coronavirus vaccine must first be tested on 24 volunteers who have not received any other vaccine. Half of this group will take one pill, the other half two. Then it will be examined how many antibodies are produced.

Kidron sees all sorts of advantages in developing a vaccine that people can swallow. It would no longer require professionals to administer it, and the product could be widely distributed. People might even be able to take their vaccine at home.

The company has already had several thousand pills produced that can be used in research. According to Kidron, the goal is to demonstrate that the concept is feasible.

I pray and hope that it will succeed. Imagine if people were vaccinated after we gave them an oral vaccine, says the senior official, it would be a revolution for the whole world.
