While the ultimate trailer of the second part of Avatar has just been unveiled, the director James Cameron recently spoke about the budget of his film. And the least we can say is that it will have to be profitable, very profitable, if we believe the director's words.

True king of the box-office, the director James Cameron knows the recipe for success in theaters. With his "Titanic" and "Avatar", two of his films are in the top 3 of the films having brought in the most money at the box office.

For his new film installment "Avatar 2: The Way of the Water," Cameron didn't look at the expense if his recent comments are any indication. "Avatar 2 will have to become the third or fourth highest grossing film in history to be profitable. That's our break-even point," he explains.

Knowing that the first "Avatar" is still number 1 at the box office with its 3 billion revenues since its release, this gives an idea of the cost of this new opus: more than a billion dollars. A very risky bet for the filmmaker, answer on December 14, 2022.
