This is an information that has particularly attracted the attention of the French media. According to the newspaper USA Today, the former wife of Vladimir Putin, Lyudmila, who was married to the Russian leader from 1983 to 2013 and who had two children with him would not have been sanctioned, unlike many Russian oligarchs.
U.S. President Joe Biden's administration and European Union allies personally sanctioned Russian President Vladimir Putin and his inner circle in February to pressure him to stop his military assault on Ukraine.
While Vladimir Putin's eldest daughters, Maria and Katerina, have been the target of sanctions, Vladimir Putin's former wife and his current partner have not yet been targeted.
According to the American media, Lyudmila is currently living with her new husband in the town of Anglet near Biarritz, in southwestern France. Lyudmilla would have bought the villa shortly after his separation from Vladimir Putin.
One of their daughters would also own an imposing house in the region, estimated at several million euros.
