Lisa Marie Presley, only daughter of American rock legend Elvis Presley, died Thursday at the age of 54 in a hospital near Los Angeles, California, where she was taken following a heart attack, reported several local media.
"It is with a heavy heart that I must share devastating news: my dear daughter Lisa Marie has left us," confirmed her mother Priscilla Presley, in a statement sent to the website People. The daughter of the "King" had been rushed to the hospital Thursday morning, according to a message posted earlier by her mother on social networks.

She had been placed in an induced coma, under respiratory assistance, after a cardiac arrest, according to the people's website TMZ, which relied on anonymous sources. Mrs. Presley was "unconscious" when her housekeeper discovered her at her home Thursday morning in Calabasas, a wealthy suburb of Los Angeles, according to the site.

Her ex-husband, Danny Keough, who also lives on the property, performed CPR until paramedics arrived and transported her to the hospital. "She was the most passionate, strong and loving woman I know," her mother praised in her statement to the People website, asking to respect the family's privacy and thanking fans for their "love and prayers."

Without confirming the identity of the patient, the Los Angeles Fire Department told the press that its teams had attended to a woman in her 50s who suffered a cardiac arrest shortly after 10:30. Solicited, a press officer of Lisa Marie Presley did not answer immediately to the AFP.

The singer was seen Tuesday with her mother at the Golden Globes ceremony, where Austin Butler received an award for his role in the biopic "Elvis". The actor, whose truer-than-life incarnation of the rock 'n' roll legend has been widely praised, had dedicated a note to the two women during his speech on stage. "Thank you for opening your hearts, your memories, your home to me. Lisa Marie and Priscilla, I love you forever," he said.

Lisa Marie Presley was the only child of Elvis. She previously controlled Elvis Presley Enterprises, but sold most of her shares to a private equity firm in 2005.

She maintained control of Graceland, the Memphis, Tennessee, estate her father owned where he was found unconscious in August 1977, before being rushed to the hospital and his death attributed to a heart attack. Her father's toxicology reports revealed high levels of drugs in the rock and roll legend's system.

Lisa Marie Presley released three albums during her career and is the mother of actor Riley Keough, who starred in "Mad Max: Fury Road." In addition to Danny Keough, whom she divorced in 1994, she has also been married to Nicolas Cage, Michael Jackson and actor-songwriter Michael Lockwood.
