Suffering from aphasia, Bruce Willis ends his career

The family of American actor Bruce Willis announced that he was ending his career at the age of 67. He suffers from aphasia, a disease that impairs the ability to communicate.

 

Our beloved Bruce has experienced some health issues and was recently diagnosed with aphasia, which impacts his cognitive abilities. As a result, and after careful consideration, Bruce is stepping down from this career that has meant so much to him, his family wrote on Instagram. The message is signed by the actor's wife, Emma Heming Willis, as well as his ex-wife Demi Moore and his daughters Rumer, Scout, Tallulah, Mabel and Evelyn.

 

According to experts at the U.S. Mayo Clinic, aphasia often occurs after a stroke or head injury and prevents the patient from communicating normally. It can affect your ability to speak, write and understand language, both in spoken and written form, they explain.

 

Bruce Willis first came to prominence in the 1980s with a recurring role in the series Moonlight alongside Cybill Shepherd, but it was the 1988 action film Die Hard that made him an international star as the invincible John McClane.
