A dispute over money with her ex-husband's family is believed to be the cause of the incident. The police made four arrests. Hong Kong is in shock.
She has over 100,000 followers on Instagram. They want to pay tribute to her on the social network after learning the sad news. The dismembered body of the young model and influencer was found this Friday, three days after her disappearance. Abby Choi was last seen on Tuesday, February 21 in Kowloon, in central Hong Kong. Her body in pieces was found in the basement of a house in Lung Mei, a seaside resort located 30 kilometers away. According to a local newspaper, the discovery "sent shockwaves through a city known for being one of the safest in the world."
The police made the details public. The father of the young woman's ex-husband, a retired police officer, is said to have planned the murder in great detail. The house in which she was found would have been set up to butcher her. "A real butchery," according to the Hong Kong newspaper. "We are still looking for the head," said Alan Chung, a local police chief. He gave other elements, equally sordid: "In the refrigerator, two pots of stew are suspected to contain human tissue." On the scene was an electric saw and a meat grinder that had been used to cut up human flesh.
The ex-father-in-law was arrested along with his wife and two sons. Kwong, who was married to the young model was intercepted by police while trying to flee the city by boat. "We believe the victim and her ex-husband's family had many disputes over large sums of money," the police chief explained. "Someone was unhappy with the way the victim was handling her assets, which became a motive to kill." About 100 police officers are combing a cemetery where the influencer's remains may have been dumped.
Abby Choi was the mother of two children. She leaves behind a small empire. Multiple magazine covers, social networks and an intense passion for fashion.
